  • Quality laminate material
  • Professional installation
  • Old flooring demolition & removal

*Pricing notes. Per-sqft pricing is for flat flooring only. Stairs are priced separately at around $175 per step for LVP (see our stairs pricing page for details). Before you choose

What decides whether laminate fits

Laminate works best when the room stays dry, the subfloor is flat, the correct underlayment is specified, and the floor has room to move. Those conditions matter more than a broad durability label.

Water exposure

Laminate has a wood-fiber core. Product water-resistance varies, but standing water and repeated edge exposure remain risks, so wet rooms usually point toward another material.

Expansion space

A floating laminate floor needs the manufacturer's expansion clearance at walls, cabinets, and fixed objects. Pinching that movement can lead to lifting or buckling.

Underlayment and subfloor

The selected laminate, subfloor type, moisture conditions, and sound needs decide the underlayment. Flatness and local repairs are checked before installation.

Laminate or LVP

Both are $6.50/sqft under the current Potomac working price. The decision is therefore room fit and product construction, not a made-up price gap.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between laminate and LVP?

Laminate has a wood-fiber core; LVP has a vinyl-based core. Product ratings vary, but LVP is generally the safer direction where surface water is expected. The installed system and subfloor still are not floodproof. Both are $6.50/sqft under the current Potomac working price.

How durable is laminate flooring?

Durability depends on the exact product rating, room, traffic, moisture, cleaning, and installation. We compare those specifications and avoid promising one lifespan across every laminate floor.

Can laminate be installed in a kitchen?

We generally recommend LVP for kitchens due to the waterproof factor. If your heart is set on laminate, we'll discuss the trade-offs during your estimate.
