Stairs aren't billed per square foot like flat flooring. They take 3 to 4 times more labor per step. Most standard LVP staircases land around $175 all-in per staircase. The real price varies a little up or down depending on the number of steps, the style you pick, and whether the staircase is open or closed. We need to see the staircase to give you the exact number. Why Stairs Aren't Priced Per Square Foot
A typical staircase only has 60 to 90 sqft of actual surface area. At our LVP rate of $5.50/sqft that would look like about $500. But stairs take 3 to 4 times the labor per square foot than flat flooring. Every step needs precise measurement, custom cuts, a separate nosing piece, glue, and finish detail. There's no "laying a plank". It's 12+ small, careful installations stacked vertically.
Most contractors hide this complexity by either charging way more per sqft on stairs (often $20 to $30/sqft) or surprising you with extra fees after the job starts. We use one baseline. Around $175 per staircase, all-in. Then we adjust up or down based on what your actual staircase needs.

Box Steps
Fully wrapped step
LVP wraps around the entire step. The tread (top), the riser (front face), and the nosing (rounded front edge) are all covered with seamless plank. Looks custom-built and is our most refined finish.

Treads + Nosing
Flat plank + separate nosing piece
LVP plank cut to fit the top walking surface of each step, with a matching stair-nose piece installed at the front edge. Slightly more visible seam between tread and nosing. Treads usually cost a little more than box steps because of the extra nosing material and the more precise fit required.

Carpet removal
We rip out and haul away the existing stair carpet and padding.
Glue & adhesive
Commercial-grade construction adhesive. Locked down for life.
Cleanup
All staples pulled, nail holes filled, dust cleaned up.
The ~$175 baseline is for standard 12 to 14 step closed staircases. Long staircases (15+ steps), curved or spiral stairs, or open-side staircases get a custom quote. Hardwood install or refinishing on stairs is also custom-quoted. Either way, you get the exact price before any work starts.
