Backed for the Life of Your Floor

Limited Lifetime Installation Warranty

We stand behind our installation for the life of your floor. If our workmanship fails, we repair it. This warranty is specific and limited. Read it so you know exactly what it covers and what it does not.

Residential installations. Original homeowner. Non-transferable.

What this warranty covers

This warranty covers defects in our installation workmanship, and only our installation workmanship. That means a failure caused by how the floor was installed:

  • Seams or gaps that open between planks because of the installation.

  • Lifting, peaking, or buckling caused by an expansion gap not being left.

  • Loose, hollow, or shifting planks caused by the installation.

  • Uneven areas or lippage from subfloor preparation we performed.

  • Squeaks or failed transitions caused by the installation.

  • Failure of underlayment or moisture barrier that we supplied and installed.

If a covered defect appears, we repair or correct the affected area at no charge to you. The remedy is the repair itself. It does not include full replacement, refunds, or any other costs.

What this warranty does not cover

This is not a material warranty and it is not a guarantee against damage or wear. It does not cover:

  • Material defects. The flooring product itself is covered by the manufacturer's separate warranty, not by us.

  • Any water or moisture event. Floods, leaks, spills, appliance failures, subfloor moisture, or humidity kept outside 35 to 55 percent.

  • Damage from use. Scratches, dents, gouges, pets, furniture, dragged objects, or loads beyond the floor's rating.

  • Improper care. Wrong cleaning products, improper cleaning, neglect, misuse, or abuse.

  • Subfloor and structural movement. Foundation, settling, or structural shifts, including any condition we identified and the homeowner declined to correct.

  • Environmental change. Fading or damage from sunlight, heat, or humidity swings.

  • Normal wear and normal wood movement. Minor seasonal gaps, color variation, and seasonal expansion are normal and expected.

  • Visible seams and transitions. These are a normal, expected part of any installation.

  • Customer-supplied material. Flooring the customer provides, and any failure that originates from it.

  • Outside work. Any alteration or repair performed by anyone other than Potomac Floors.

  • Non-residential use. Commercial, rental, or non-owner-occupied installations.

Conditions

  • This warranty applies only to the original homeowner at the original installation address. It is non-transferable and does not pass to a new owner if the home is sold.

  • It applies only to owner-occupied residential installations.

  • The home must be kept within normal indoor conditions, 35 to 55 percent relative humidity.

  • You must report a suspected defect to us in writing within 30 days of noticing it, with your original invoice.

  • We must be allowed to inspect the floor first. If anyone else works on the area before we inspect it, coverage for that area ends.

  • Potomac Floors determines, on inspection, whether the issue is a covered installation defect.

  • Warranty service is provided only after the full contract balance is paid.

This installation warranty is separate from, and in addition to, the manufacturer's warranty on the flooring material. Quality LVP and hardwood typically carry a manufacturer's warranty of 20 to 25 years or more, depending on the product and brand.
